The queen of jazz has a beautiful point here and it’s such a great reminder that “love is the thing.” Isn’t that why we play music? We freakin’ love it and it makes us feel alive. We play to empty clubs, bare our souls, and write about our broken hearts for the love of it. And isn’t it amazing that you’ve found something you love? There are a lot of people out there who have no idea what their passion is — who may work dead-end jobs or feel lost. I used to be one. But when I found music, it was like finding God. I’m not religious, but I can see how people get into it. It feels amazing to have something you love, something nobody can take away from you. And to me, that’s the key to a happy and successful life.

Some of the stuff we’re working on these days (that I can speak of publicly!) is: a massive hip-hop compilation collected by the French producer Kyo Itachi; the first vinyl release of trance producers Hilight Tribe; a new release by the Berlin techno label Get Physical Music; two re-pressings with Rhythm Bomb; and many more.
From her native Tunisia via France, Abdelwahed made her name playing sets in places like The Boiler Room and Berghain. Her work fuses gritty urban dance rhythms with unconventional textures; it’s ambient, industrial, and traditional Arab music all wrapped up within an experimental techno framework. In an interview she poses a question that summarizes her artistic vision: “If the people who invented house and techno were Arab, if they had grown up with our rhythms and our instruments, what would it sound like? Would it be the drum and bass, house and techno we know today? I don’t think so.” Abdelwahed’s latest album is Khonna, released in November 2018.
Some examples of past programs include adding production magic to your tracks, arranging and finishing musical ideas, producing an EP, working on your branding, and getting help building an audience for your music. Whatever your project or goal may be, we’ll pair you up with a Soundfly Mentor specifically suited to your needs and experience, who will work with you to figure out what it takes to get it done.
All of these ideas are widely applicable to many genres and can carry over to other box shapes on the guitar. Try experimenting with different combinations and creating your own lines! If you want even more of a workout, try to move some of the licks into fifth position (root on the A string).

We have George Frideric Handel to thank for the next example, in a melody that would later be adapted as the holiday standard, “Joy to the World.” The minor second interval here appears with the lyrics “joy” and “to” at 0:04 in the version below. Easy enough!

Her self-produced artist project under the same name has been described as “blissful bedroom synth pop” which she creates in her adopted home of Brooklyn, New York. Sulene is a composer for multiple music houses including Marmoset and Squeak E Clean, she’s endorsed by Fender and Jim Dunlop, and her solo music is published through Rough Trade Publishing.
